Vision

We strive to be a church without walls. Jesus calls for us to go outside the walls to reach the lost and the broken. It is there that the lost will be found. Most churches find it is comfortable to stay within the walls, but we make it an effort to be like the church from the book of Acts, to see our city changed.

Our Core Values

We desire to be led by the Holy Spirit in all we do. (John 14:26; 16:13-15; 1 Corinthians 12:7-11; Galatians 5:16-18)

We desire to be led, strengthened, empowered, to worship, and build our relationship with God through fervent, unceasing prayer. (Psalm 100:4; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; 1 Timothy 2:1-8; Jude 20).

We desire to preach and teach the whole Word of God, taking pains to be culturally relevant to today’s culture while remaining Biblically sound. (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15; Luke 9:60; 1 Corinthians 1:17-25; 9:22; Ephesians 4:11- 16; Colossians 2:6-10; 1 Tim. 1:2-5; 4:1-7,13).

We desire to bring the lost to Christ within our community and the world at large through personal and corporate evangelism. (Matt. 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; 1 Peter 3:15).

We desire to instruct fellow believers to use God’s Word as our guide to grow spiritually, and to become more like Christ through accountability and discipleship. (Matt. 28:18-20; Philippians 1:27; 2 Tim. 2:1-2, 22-26; 3:14-17).

We desire to reveal God’s worth in everything we say, do, and think in personal and corporate worship. (Psalm 29:1-2; Matt. 22:34-39; 1 Cor. 10:31)

We desire to demonstrate our love for God, our church family, and our community through the sacrificial giving of ourselves and our resources. ( 1 Chronicles 29:14; Malachi 3:10; Mark 12:41-44; John 13:34-35; Romans 12:1; 1 Cor. 12:7).

We desire to build up the traditional family and the family of God through sharing each others burdens, struggles, joys, and triumphs. (Deuteronomy 6:6-8; Mark 3:35; Gal. 6:2,10; Eph. 5:21ff; Col. 3:18ff; James 1:27; 1 Peter 2:5)

We desire to pursue and encourage the active involvement of all members of the family of God in order to ensure the fulfillment of our values. (Rom. 12:3-8; 1 Cor. 12:7ff; Gal. 5:13-14; Eph. 4:11-16; Hebrews 10:24-25).

Our History

On May 12, 1866, a group of faithful Christians assembled at the Berlin school house, Berlin, Michigan to prayerfully consider the possibility of organizing a Baptist Church. Two years later, May 30, 1868, the church was formally organized.

Architectural design was drawn up for the church edifice, was built, and dedicated January 21, 1871.

The first parsonage was sold in May of 1946. On June 9, 1948, the church began construction of the new parsonage. The parsonage mortgage was burned 4 years later, October 1952.
